Vintage is back baby! This year, sustainability took a big leap up the fashion mountain, with London being the first of the big four fashion capitals to introduce sustainability requirements for new designers applying to showcase at London Fashion Week 2025.
Sustainability at London Fashion Week 2025
London was the first of the big four fashion capitals to introduce sustainability requirements for new designers applying to showcase at London Fashion Week 2025. The British Fashion Council adopted the 2019 Copenhagen Fashion Week standards, which include having a formal ESG strategy, using sustainable materials, and eliminating single-use props.
This year, we saw a major resurgence of vintage-inspired designs, with designers like S.S Daley, Paul Costello, and Emilia Wickstead drawing influence from British design icons like Mary Quant, Biba (Barbara Hulanicki), and Ozzie Clark. The catwalk was buzzing with 1960s-inspired suits, pillbox hats, and Celia Birtwell-esque prints, all fused with edgy 1980s cuts. S.S Daley even paid tribute to the late Marianne Faithfull, knitting “Stay Faithful to Marianne” into one of his looks.
The growing focus on sustainability from the top of the fashion world has us excited about the future of vintage fashion!
